Peapod to put virtual markets in 17 CTA, Metra stations

Launched at a Chicago "L" station last spring, Skokie-based online grocer Peapod is expanding its virtual supermarkets to 17 CTA and Metra stations. The interactive billboards, which allow commuters to scan and buy groceries on the fly using a free smartphone app, will pop up at nine CTA and eight Metra stations, with locations ranging from the Sox-35th Red Line on the South Side to suburban platforms in Deerfield, Barrington and Grayslake.

See A Rat? There's An App For That

The City of Chicago now has a “Chicago Works” app, designed to be a mobile 311 to report non-emergencies, like street light outages, rat-sightings and potholes.

The app allows users to spot a rat, take a photo, send it to the city and get a report on the city’s progress.  Similarly, residents can report and monitor restaurant and building violations, graffiti removal, abandoned vehicles and tree debris.

“Chicago Works” is available in the app store for iPhones, iPods and iPads.
