Starting March 4, Metra is planing to give away 14,000 free “test rides” to any destination in its system as part of an effort to convince potential passengers that “Metra makes life easy,” officials said Tuesday. Drawings that will be held each Monday for 14 weeks. Each week, 500 tickets good for two free Metra rides will be given away.

There is free tax assistance for Chicago’s working families and Mayor Emanuel recently launched a new website: www.TaxPrepChicago.org that will allow residents to find their closest free tax preparation site, file their taxes online for free, learn more about the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC..Each year nearly 100,000 or 25 percent of eligible families in Chicago – do not take advantage of the EITC, leaving over $230 million in unclaimed refunds) , and provide important information about consumer rights when using a paid tax preparer.
